2010 - Event Mission

Toronto Wildlife Centre (TWC) is a registered charity dedicated to the rehabilitation of sick, injured and orphaned wildlife, and to educating the public about wildlife-related issues. TWC does not have a source of core funding and is therefore reliant on donations and volunteers to provide services to wildlife and the public. TWC is the largest wildlife centre in Canada and as of this year has admitted more than 56,000 wild animals for medical care since opening in 1993. Wildlife rehabilitation is extremely resource intensive - the funds raised at The Wild Ball enable the rescue, rehabilitation and release of wild animals representing hundreds of different species.

The Wild Ball is organized largely by volunteers, and is made possible by donations. It is our goal to provide guests, volunteers, and sponsors with a rewarding and fun experience, and to raise $70,000 for wildlife this year.

Sick, injured and orphaned wild animals in need of medical attention are arriving daily at Toronto Wildlife Centre. Members of the public seeking help with wildlife issues call TWC's Wildlife Hotline every day. Whether it's a sick looking Coyote found in a backyard, a Red-tailed Hawk caught in kite string high in a tree in a school yard, or a Ruby-throated Hummingbird injured after crashing into a kitchen window, situations involving people and wildlife are unpredictable, constant, and require expert, humane response.

Every supporter of The Wild Ball - whether you are a financial sponsor, an in-kind donor, a volunteer, or a guest - is helping to ensure that wildlife expertise and medical care is available to wild animals when they need it most.
