2008 - Volunteers
As the last of the event supplies were being loaded into cars and trucks at the end of the night, Michael W., the venue supervisor, turned to TWC staff member / Wild Ball Coordinator Janet and said, "That was the best volunteer staff I have ever seen". And he was absolutely right!
Thank you so very much to everyone who kindly volunteered their time to help raise funds for wildlife at The Wild Ball. Without you this event could not have taken place, and would not have raised critically needed funding for wild animals admitted to Toronto Wildlife Centre.
So many people worked tirelessly in the months leading up to the event helping to ensure everything needed was made or donated, from animal ears, educational graphics and delicious food to donations of auction items or event items such as beer, printing, and groceries.
The team of volunteers who came to The Fermenting Cellar on Thursday were such a wonderful collection of generous people - so many volunteers worked very hard throughout the day and night to provide Wild Ball guests with an incredible experience.
The compliments from Wild Ball guests and various event industry professionals have been pouring in - there's simply no question about it, Wild Ball volunteers are amazing people!
A very special thank you to Ed Clark of The Wildlife Centre of Virginia for jumping in at the last minute to emcee, and thank you as well to Roger Ashby of 104.5 CHUM FM's Roger, Darren and Marilyn, who upon hearing that his friend Debra was unable to be there to emcee due to illness, happily stepped back into his emcee role from 2007 and opened the festivities this year.
